FEATURE RESTAURANT: The Duck & Dumpling The Duck & Dumpling  222 S Blount St Raleigh, NC 27601 Phone: (919) 838-0085 This week we would like to feature a great restaurant in Raleigh, the Duck and Dumpling.   From the name you guessed it the specials are Duck and Dumplings. But there is so much more to this great restaurant. First the atmosphere is wonderful. The colors are perfectly matched, the music is subtle yet doesn’t put you to sleep, and the atmosphere is modern. I would say it is probably one of the best places for a first date in Raleigh.   It is right across the street from the big park on Blount Street, and is right next to some happening places such as Tir Na Nog, a local Irish favorite spot, and The Blue Room. I have always thought that I date should be much more then a dinner and movies. With the Duck and Dumpling, you can start with the food, and explore what Raleigh has to offer, without having to walk more then a few feet. Also the Dueling Piano Bar, Rum Runners is about a half a block walk.   Well, I personally loved the food, and the Chef actually comes out to ask his patrons, how the food was. Truly an exceptional local spot. Don’t be surprised to see some really attractive local singles starting their nights out here as well. Here is a local band that you should check out…..they are truly a good sound…. OK OK maybe I am bias, but it is my band, Friends of Rachel….  The original guys, Kevin, Kevin, and borther Mike are actually veterans to the music scene of Boston. But with family here, they have moved back and I joined them about 3 months ago. We are just getting ready to start playing in Raleigh, Chappell Hill and G-Boro.  The sound is really different. I have played in a lot of bands, but it is a first that I find myself humming our own songs after practice.  I guess what it is is that there is some true heart to the music as opposed to just basic chords that just sounds like every other song out there.  Our first gig is at LUCY’s in Chappell Hill Wednesday the 25th.
